## Mumbai quick facts
- Best time to visit: November to February is the most comfortable season in Mumbai, with dry weather and cooler evenings. June to September is monsoon, with heavy rain and some boat services limited.
- Gateway of India: A basalt arch monument on the Colaba waterfront, completed in 1924. Boats to Elephanta Caves leave from here, and the Taj Mahal Palace hotel (opened 1903) stands opposite.
- Elephanta Caves: A UNESCO World Heritage Site (inscribed 1987) on an island in Mumbai Harbour, about an hour by boat from the Gateway of India. Closed on Mondays.
- Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus: A Victorian Gothic railway station in South Mumbai, formerly Victoria Terminus, and a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2004.
- Marine Drive: A seafront boulevard of about 3.6 km known as the Queen's Necklace for its lights at night. Best visited at sunset or after dark.
- Bandra-Worli Sea Link: A cable-stayed bridge of about 5.6 km that opened in 2009 and links Bandra with Worli across the Arabian Sea.
